Jessica + Zach met her freshman year at The University of Kentucky. They began their story as friends and it stayed that way for three years before pursuing their relationship. Zach and Jessica said they would always spot each other at tailgates and while walking to class. It wasn’t until after Zach graduated that they eventually started dating!
The proposal came on Jessica’s graduation day. Zach planned a “graduation party” for Jess and invited all their closest friends and family. Just as they were making a “graduation” toast, Zach got down on one knee! Jessica said “I’ll never forget it, I turned around to cheers him and he was kneeling there!” Just hearing Jess tell me their story, gives me chills and moves me to tears.
I met Zach and Jessica last September and instantly felt a connection with them! They are just SO joyful and fun to be around! We started planning their big day and engagement session immediately. Unfortunately, the weather created many conflicts and reschedules. After rescheduling 3-4 times, mother nature FINALLY decided to cooperate! With Jessica’s love for greens and the character that Old Louisville brings, we decided on shooting in St. James Court.
St. James court is one of the most recognizable areas in Downtown Louisville. The Victorian homes, iconic fountain and gaslights give the area a lavish yet “homey.”
Jessica and Zach are lovers of dogs and champagne, both of which they incorporated into their session. One of their closest friends, Austin brought their beloved dog, Buster along to their session.
Buster was such a handsome and well behaved little guy! He enjoyed exploring the city, loving on his parents and playing with the other pups in the area. Did you know, Buster has his own instagram account?! His handle is @busterdaboxer is you’re also a dog lover and want to follow his journey!
The champagne was such a cute added touch to the engagement session. What I loved most about it was that the champagne flutes were from Zach’s Mom and Dad’s wedding Day! I LOVE when my couples bring along accessories, especially those that hold sentimental value!
These two showed up so nervous! After some reassurance and educating them on how my sessions typically flow, they quickly settled in and started having fun! Jess and Zach are getting married September of this year at The Pepin Mansion in Downtown New Albany! To say I am excited to capture their day is an understatement! Their love and cheerful disposition is SO contagious! They laughed and smiled throughout their entire engagement session! I can only imagine how fun and special their wedding day is going to be!
After they popped the bubbly, we decided to walk across the street to Central Park for some more fun! The arched door frames, cream columns and beautiful pergola ended up being such a dreamy and romantic setting. It was the perfect way to end our night!
It is funny how 6 months ago we were complete strangers and now these two feel like friends I’ve known forever. Photography has a way of bonding people and it is one of the many reasons I love this job! Capturing your story is SO important to me. Knowing your Grandkids will look back and smile at these photos one day brings me the utmost joy!
Zach + Jessica, thank you for choosing me! We had so much fun and shared ALL the laughs! You all were such a dream and incredibly fun to work with! I Can’t wait for wedding day!!
